An oriental rug is a living thing. It crosses the decades, but it may lose a fringe, wear at the edges or suffer a household accident. Our craftspeople then restore it to its original splendour.
We work on every rug, whether bought from us or elsewhere: repairing fringes and selvedges, filling holes, restoring moth-eaten areas, re-fixing loosened knots, and fully restoring antique collector's pieces.
As every rug is unique, we provide a free quote that takes into account the fineness of the knotting, the materials used and the extent of the repair. If you would rather not move your rug, we will gladly come to your home to assess it.
All our work is done by hand, in the proper manner, with first-rate materials chosen to match your rug perfectly. A professional clean beforehand is essential to guarantee lasting work.

A hand-knotted oriental rug deserves care to match. Our workshop washes each piece using a traditional process that respects the wool, the silk and the natural dyes.
The process: your rug is first carefully dusted, then soaked in a basin, shampooed in water with natural products, rinsed at length, and dried under tension in our heated rooms to prevent any distortion or rippling. It is a gentle, meticulous method that preserves the fibres, the colours and the lustre of the rug.

We collect and return your rug free of charge from 3 m² upwards, throughout French-speaking Switzerland, the Jura and Fribourg. Allow one to two weeks to find your piece as good as new.
Amir Rasty is an official appraiser recognised by customs and insurers. Every appraisal results in an official certificate attesting the authenticity, origin, quality and value of your rug — an essential document for insurance, inheritance or resale.
Price: from CHF 80 per rug if you bring it to the shop. We also travel to your home on request, at an adapted rate. The more pieces you entrust to us, the lower the unit price.

We adapt everything: the style (classic oriental, contemporary, Gabbeh, nomadic), the technique (knotted or flat-woven), the dimensions — and you choose freely from a wide palette of colours.
This service extends to our cushions too, fully customisable to your taste and to the harmony you wish to create at home.

An oriental rug is made from three main materials. Wool — from sheep, goat or lamb — forms the pile; the most sought after, known as Kork, comes from the down of the lamb's neck. Cotton is used for the warp and weft, the invisible structure that gives the rug its stability. Silk, reserved for the finest pieces such as those from Isfahan, Nain or Qom, may be used alone for the most precious rugs, or blended with wool to lift the motifs.
Once spun, the wool is dyed with natural colourants: madder for red, indigo for blue, saffron for yellow, walnut husk for brown, henna for orange.
On nomadic rugs, subtle variations of colour known as abrash sometimes appear: they come from successive dye baths, never quite identical. That is what makes each one singular.
On a vertical or horizontal loom, the warp threads are stretched, then the knotter ties the knots by hand, one by one, row after row. There are two main knots: the Ghiordes, symmetrical, known as Turkish, and the Senneh, asymmetrical, known as Persian. The finer and tighter the knots, the more precious and durable the rug.
