What is your rug really worth? For insurance, an inheritance, a resale or a customs crossing, only an official appraisal counts. Amir Rasty is an appraiser recognised by customs and insurers — every appraisal produces a certificate attesting the authenticity, origin, quality and value of your piece.
What the certificate states
The appraisal certificate establishes the piece's authenticity (hand-knotted or manufactured), its origin (region, workshop, period), its quality (materials, knot density, condition) and its value.
It is the document insurers ask for to cover a valuable piece, notaries for an inheritance, and customs for a border crossing.
Fifty years of eye and trade
An appraisal cannot be improvised: it rests on decades of pieces seen, touched, turned over. For more than fifty years, our house has selected, authenticated and valued oriental rugs of every provenance — Iran, Afghanistan, Tibet, the Caucasus, Turkey.
Every piece sold by us comes with its certificate of origin: appraisal is part of the trade, not a side service.

Frequently asked questions
How do I know whether my rug is hand-knotted?
Turn it over: on a genuine piece the pattern is as crisp on the back as on the front, and every knot is visible. When in doubt, the appraisal settles it.
Do oriental rugs gain in value?
Antique pieces, finely knotted and in good condition, hold or gain in value — especially when documented by a certificate. Ordinary recent production does not.
Does an appraisal oblige me to sell?
Not at all: the certificate is yours, whatever use you make of it.
